Kamala Harris

 Kamala Devi Harris, born on the 20th of October, 1964, is a prominent American politician as well as a lawyer. She is currently the 49th vice president of the United States. Kamala Devi Harris is the first female vice-president and the highest ranking female politician in U.S history. As a member of the Democratic Party, she previously served as attorney general of California between 2011 and 2017 and as a United States senator representing California between 2017 and 2021. Harris was born in Oakland. Harris received her law degree from Howard University. She began her career in the Alameda County District Attorney's Office, before being recruited to the San Francisco District Attorney's Office and then to the City Attorney of San Francisco's office. In 2003, she was elected the city's district attorney. Harris was elected Attorney general of California in 2010. In 2014, she was elected to a second term. Harris served as the junior United States Senator from California between 2017 until 2021. Harris defeated Loretta Sanchez in the 2016 Senate election, becoming the 2nd African American woman and the first South Asian American to serve in the United States Senate. In her time as a senator, she pushed for healthcare reform, federal descholaring of cannabis, a path for immigrants who are not legal citizens, the DREAM Act and a ban on assault weapons. Harris also backed progressive tax reform. She is most famous for her pointed questions of Trump administration officials during Senate hearings.
