Barbara Ann Corcoran

 Barbara Ann Corcoran (born March 10 1949) is an American businesswoman investor and speaker. She is also a consultant, speaker writer, syndicated columnist, author, and television personality. She co-founded The Corcoran Group, a real estate brokerage in New York City, which she sold to NRT for $66 million in 2001 and shortly after, she left the company. Corcoran was one of ABC's original Shark investors was a featured guest of every episode of Shark Tank. In February of 2020, she has made 53 deals for the show, with the most significant being a $350,000 investment for 40% of Coverplay. Corcoran was the second of 10 kids born to an Irish-Catholic couple working in the middle class in Edgewater, New Jersey. Florence, Corcoran's mother, was a housewife. Edwin W. Corcoran Jr. her father, was a multi-talented worker throughout Corcoran's childhood. The family relied on the food provided by a friendly local grocer for free food. Corcoran remembers her father, one who would drink too much, and treated her mother with disrespect and condescendingly, particularly after he'd had a few drinks. Corcoran struggled in school, and was later told that she was dyslexic. Corcoran was a student at an Catholic elementary school in her community and began high school at St. Cecilia High School, Englewood. Corcoran was proficient in a variety of classes during her first year. She was transferred to Leonia High School and graduated with a grade of D.
